Biotoopia`22 events’ shortlist

BIOTOOPIA’22 invites everybody to consider the importance of beauty in the process of evolution.  You are welcome to attend the main Biotoopia events in August in Tallinn and the Viinistu Art Harbour (North coast of Estonia), as well as the events organized by our partners from July through October around Estonia. Most of the events are in English and have free entrance. Please see the shortlist below and visit our website for more information.

Biotoopia’22 events

4.08 Biotoopia Walks: Interspecies City from 19:00  to 20:30 in the Lasnamäe city area in Tallinn. The 1.5-hour walk begins at the Ussimäe road bus stop. The event is in Estonian and it will be led by Hildegard Reimann. Pre-registration requested. Detailed information here.

16.08 Biotoopia Talks: Ecoaesthetics from 18:00 to 20:00 is being held at Puänt bookstore  in Telliskivi Creative City (Telliskivi Loomelinn, Telliskivi 60A/1, Tallinn)and online on Biotoopia Facebook page. The subject of ecoaesthetics is discussed by David Rothenberg, Kalevi Kull, Jaanika Peerna, and Vaim Sarv. The event is in English and curated by Peeter Laurits. Pre-registration is required for participation at the location. Detailed information here.

18.08 Biotoopia Art and Music Performances from 17:00 to 21:00 in Lahemaa, North coast of Estonia. Jaanika Peerna’s artistic live performance at Viinistu Art Harbour kicks off the day. At Cape Purekkari (near to the RMK parking lot), the program continues with musical performances in natural ecosystems by musician Vaim Sarv  and creative duo Taavi Varm and Nuno Correia. Evening’s highlight will be  David Rothenberg who will hold a special concert with insects by Purekkari’s water ponds. The walk through concerts will be led by Peeter Laurits. 19.08 Biotoopia Day Trip to Mohni Island from 11:00 to 19:00.  The ferry departs from Viinistu Art Harbour. Rein Kuresoo leads us on a journey through the island’s natural environment, biologist Kalevi Kull speaks about the beauty of nature, and artist Jila Svicevic unveils Tuliuss, a site-specific permanent installation. 30.07 – 10.09 Varvara & Mar / Taavi Varm’s exhibition After Everyone Left For Planet B at Kanal gallery in Võru city, Estonia. Peeter Laurits will lead a discussion panel with the artists on site and online on July 30 at 18:00 as part of the opening event. The event is in English. Detailed information here.

04.08- 10.09 AVA OMA (S)ILMAD exhibition curated by an Association of Estonian Printmakers at Rüki galley in Viljandi.

11.08 Biotoopia WALKS at 14:45 led by Marit Mihklepp in Kordon Art Residency in Kärdla city, Estonia. Also, there will be a discussion between Marit Mihklepp and Peeter Laurits moderated by Ann Mirjam Vaikla. The event is in Estonian. Detailed information here.

29.09 – 30.10 The 8th Artishok Biennial: Botanical Witnesses at Tallinn Botanic Garden. Detailed information here.
