Artist Kadri Liis Rääk reacts to social, ecological and existential crises that we are facing today while looking towards a possible future. The artist seeks answers to questions what an alternative world could be, how would it emerge and disappear and what our role in experiencing this time-space during these processes.
Kadri Liis Rääk is a transdisciplinary artist, who combines installations, drawings, ceramics and performance in her practice, while creating immersive and tactile environments. She uses the methods of scenography and new media, working in the expanded field of contemporary art and design. Her works express archetypical and symbolic narratives about ecological dialogues between humans and non-human lifeforms. Kadri Liis Rääk has studied scenography (BA, 2014) and contemporary art (MA, 2019) at the Estonian Academy of Arts and autonomous design at Royal Academy of Fine Arts (KASK) (MA, 2018). She has complemented her practice at Now: Residency (2022), SIM Residency (2022), Kunstkollektivet 8B (2021). Kadri Liis has been awarded with Rene Bruynsenaere-De Witte Foundation prize (2018). Since 2022 she’s the doctoral candidate at the Estonian Academy of Arts.
